Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 cheese slices (optional)
  • Cooking spray (as needed)

Equipment

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape into patties about ¾-inch thick.
  3. Press a small indentation into the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
  4. Season both sides of the patties with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket if needed.
  6. Place patties in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between each one.
  7. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  8. Check the internal temperature:
    135 to 140°F for medium
    145 to 150°F for medium-well
    160°F for well-done
  9. If using cheese, add slices during the last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking.
  10. Remove burgers and rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving on buns.

Notes

  • For the juiciest burgers, avoid pressing the patties while cooking.
  • Frozen burger patties can be cooked directly; add 3 to 4 extra minutes and flip halfway.
  • Resting the burgers helps retain juices and improves texture.
