Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Place the butter in your baking dish and let it melt completely in the oven.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to evenly distribute ingredients.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and mix gently until a thick, slightly sticky dough forms. Do not overmix.
  4. Carefully pour the dough into the melted butter in the baking dish. Spread evenly without mixing it into the butter.
  5. Use a knife to cut the dough into 9 squares before baking. This helps create evenly portioned biscuits.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and edges are crispy.
  7. Let biscuits cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for the best flavor and texture.
