Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) fresh strawberries, hulled and halved (For the Strawberry Agua Fresca)
  • 3 to 4 tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cold water, divided
  • Ice cubes (For Serving (Optional))
  • Extra strawberry slices
  • Fresh mint leaves

Method

  1. Rinse strawberries well, remove the green tops, and halve them for easier blending.
  2. Add strawberries, sugar, lime juice, and 2 cups of cold water to a blender.
  3. Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth and silky.
  4. Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher. Use a spoon to press the pulp and extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Pour in the remaining 2 cups of cold water and stir well.
  6. Adjust sweetness with more sugar or balance with extra lime juice if needed.
  7. Pour over ice and garnish with strawberry slices and mint if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ripe, sweet strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Frozen strawberries (thawed) work well when fresh are out of season.
  • Straining is optional but gives a smoother, traditional texture.
  • Always taste before serving, adjust sweetness and acidity as needed.
